Black Interior Designer Showcase
A publishing division of Lifestyle Design Interiors. In 1995 our magazine's
original concept was inspired by the lack of exposure given to the few
professional black interior designers in the United States.

That was then...this is now.

Our Vision Now
In 2007, the greater impact of interior design on the world has broadened the
focus of our publication's content. Never before have there been more
evidence that good design is now accessible to everyone.

Seeking an interior design professional should not be difficult nor intimidating.
The popularity of HGTV, Fine Living and TLC's design shows reflect the
dynamic impact designers have on the world and on our lifestyles.

Our vision is to provide subscribers with a premier publication showcasing
design expertise, creativity, style, innovative products and practical knowledge
of the interior design business. Interior designers of the highest professional
standards will be featured.

Our Mission
Black Interior Designer Showcase will introduce our youth to the careers of
interior design and architecture. We will feature member designers and their
individual styles to readers nationwide and inform the black community about
pertinent design topics such as: GREEN DESIGN & SUSTAINABLITY;
UNIVERSAL DESIGN; ECO-FRIENDLY PRODUCTS; GREEN BUILDING &
REMODELING.

The Publication
Each annual edition of Black Interior Designer Showcase will feature
residential and commercial projects by professional interior designers. It will be
the ideal source for homeowners, builders, contractors and architectural firms
interested in retaining and collaborating with locally based interior designers.
Our readers will also have access to informative articles written by these
featured professionals on the latest design and lifestyle trends

The interior designers' projects presented in Black Interior Designer
Showcase are reviewed by our staff and an Advisory Board in order to
maintain professional industry design standards. The publication is not a
referral service nor offer professional endorsements.

Our Subscribers
We seek input from subscribers of Black Interior Designer Showcase and

ABOUT THE FOUNDER:
Alicia Valair, CID, CKD, Allied Member ASID, earned her B.A. in
Interior Design from (FIDER) Marymount University, Arlington, VA. She
received the designation of Nevada State Certified Interior Designer (CID) in
2005 and became Chair of Interior Design at International Academy of Design
& Technology. Previously, she spent three years at The Art Institute of Las
Vegas as an adjunct instructor. She's consulted on projects such as The Annie
Lee Art Gallery, educational research for Design Center Solutions and recently
with Mysterium Studio on church interiors. Alicia's appeared on HGTV's
Designer's Challenge and have contributed to several home magazines. She is
currently a Principal with RSGPDesigns of Las Vegas, a commercial firm with
over 25 years in Hospitality, Casino, Residential, High-Rise, Condominium and
Office Design. Alicia is owner of Lifestyle Design Interiors, offering custom
residential interiors and luxury kitchen and bath consultations for private
clients. Alicia is a member of Black Speakers Association, National Kitchen &
Bath Association, US Green Building Council and American Society of Interior
Designers.
